Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) witnessed improvement in symptoms and less reliance on other medications after treatment with Tikun Olam’s Avidekel™ medical cannabis.
A two-year study followed 188 children, with an average age of 13, diagnosed with ASD, notes a statement from reports Tikun Olam, whose products have been used to treat patients for symptoms of medical conditions, including cancer, PTSD, AIDS, epilepsy, Crohn’s Disease/colitis, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, chronic pain and neuropathy.
The patients were treated with the company’s high-CBD, low-THC medical cannabis strains, which have been specifically cultivated, the statement adds.
The company reports that, at the study’s outset, the most common patient symptoms were restlessness (90.4 percent), rage attacks (79.8 percent) and agitation (78.7 percent). After six months of daily cannabis treatment at company clinics in Israel, “80.1 percent of patients reported improvement of their symptoms, with 30.1 percent reporting ‘significant’ improvement, the statement claims.
